Veterans and Vines is the first fencing tournament to showcase some of the best wines of Santa Barbara County and the Central Coast. While fencing is the main item on the agenda, we want to make sure everyone enjoys their time spent in Santa Barbara. All participants receive complimentary tastings from some of the area's premier wineries, as well as tickets for door prizes, commemorative wine glasses, and other SWAG.

The 2012 Veterans and Vines tournament was held on March 3 and March 4. Check back for information on the 2013 event. We are considering holding the event in the summer, so as not to conflict with the active Veterans competition schedule.

All USFA rules and regulations will be strictly enforced, and proof of USFA membership is required upon check-in.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Central Coast Fencing Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

How do I pre-register?

Pre-registration will be handled through ASKFRED

Can I bring my friend/spouse/partner?

Absolutely! We will have tasting opportunities for everyone (over 21 years old) during the awards ceremony. Plus, the venue is only two blocks from Santa Barbara's Downtown mall. So if your guest is tired of watching you win, lose, or sweat, then he or she can easily find shopping, good food, and plenty of other activities. Note that we are asking for a donation of $10 for non-fencers.

Will the men's and women's events be combined if the turnout is low?

The events will not be combined, but, in the event of a low turnout, women will be given the option to fence in the mens event in addition to their own.

Foil? Epee? Bah! What about saber?

Sorry, Cutters. Veteran's saber was originally included in the schedule for 2012, but we decided to keep things a little smaller for our inaugural tournament. We'll include saber in 2013. We promise.

I don't drink alcohol. Is there a discount on registration?

Sorry, there isn't a discount. However, there will be other beverages served and prizes for non-drinkers. Proceeds from this special event benefit the Central Coast Fencing Foundation. Thanks for your generous support.

Will conductive bibs be required?

No, the bibs will not be valid target in the foil events in 2012.

Are names required on uniforms?

Nope. Not this year. But all other USFA uniform requirements will be in place.
